you go, girl

Don't you just love when you come across a stranger who has passion about their job? I have met some amazing nurses who take the extra time to comfort and cheer. I love when you eat at a new restaurant and the waiter or waitress makes every single dish sound delicious. On a flight to Dallas recently the pilot was hysterical and the flight attendants funny AND sweet. The pilot made a big deal over an active military member on the plane and they quickly escorted him to first class! It would be a better world if everyone acted in this wonderful manner.
We have an amusement park near us that is only open from late spring until early Fall. Most of the employees at the park are either high school or college students. We tend to go there in the spring and fall when it is not very crowded. My friend TJ and I take our littlest ones there with ease when the older children are still in school. One day we stayed for the parade. Normally there are lots of dancers in the parade- but in the spring those dancers are still in school. So the parade was pretty bare bones. On this particular day there was a senior citizen we called "grandma" and oh my word- she was rocking out and jammin' to the beat. She had such passion for her job. Grandma really made our day. Her smile and enthusiasm was contagious. And how wonderful that at her age she is still working and loving her job. I hope you run across someone this passionate about their job today!

recipes you requested

Hope you all are having a great weekend. Here are the links to the tried and true recipes I have been chatting with you about. First is the Rachael Ray's fried ravioli recipe. If you are in a hurry just use store bought marinara heated up and tastes just as good. This is a crowd pleaser so I usually make extra.
Next (from my friend JB) is an easy but delicious sangria recipe. I couldn't find peach brandy so I substituted apricot brandy and just as good. Cheers!

I'm on a fundraising fury

Last night some great friends and I enjoyed some time together creating meals at our local meal assembly establishment. You assemble the meals there and then bring home and freeze so you have casseroles and other yummy dishes on hand. I love to take the meals to the beach with us so I can enjoy our day at the beach, but still have a home cooked meal ready and waiting when hunger strikes. I figured out that you can host a fundraising party and receive 7% of the total purchases. So I hosted a LIVESTRONG CHALLENGE fundraiser there last night. For my local blog readers, you can still get meals from said place up until July 22nd. Just use fundraiser code LSCharity when you are online picking out your meals. A fun night for a great cause.
I also found out two interesting facts about my friends. 1. They like my Sangria (thank you JB for the recipe). Will post the recipe in the next few days.
2. They will eat a full bowl of fried ravioli (leaving only 2 behind), but they will rarely eat a vegetable. Interesting!

Lunchboxes...early July?

Don't hate me for posting about lunchboxes in the beginning of July. I am just as annoyed as you are seeing back packs and fall clothes for sale already. However, this deal is only good until July 20th so I just had to share. Vera Bradley's website is sending out this $10 off coupon towards the purchase of their darling Let's do Lunch lunch totes. Normally $28. so do the math and $18. seems like a great price for yourself, your daughter, your friend or for future gifts. I love to keep great items like this on hand for those times when you need a gift...and fast! Thanks to my friend KK who reads my blog and probably yours, too, but never leaves a comment!
